Rebekah Gundry 27th Annual Lorne Proteomics Symposium 2022

Rebekah Gundry

Dr. Gundry is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Center for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She received a B.S. from Marquette University, M.S. from George Washington University, and PhD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. As a post-doctoral fellow, she was awarded a Pathway to Independence Award from NHLBI and over the past eight years has built a funded (National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association, and others) research program that reflects her passion for mass spectrometry and its application to stem cell biology and cardiac research. Her research laboratory is dedicated to developing new technologies, methodologies, and reagents to address outstanding challenges in cardiovascular research related to the use of pluripotent stem cell-derived models of cardiomyocyte differentiation and the identification of novel targets for studying and treating advanced heart failure. Specifically, her laboratory develops and applies analytical and bioinformatic approaches to identify cell surface proteins and glycans and is the first to map the cell surface proteome of primary human heart cells. Dr. Gundry is a recipient of the Robert J Cotter Young Investigator Award (USHUPO) and several Outstanding Graduate and Medical Student Teaching Awards from MCW. She is a Fellow of the American Heart Association, is an active grant reviewer for National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association, and is a HUPO Council member.
